Because we all need a good laugh ... Cletus, Take the Reel

Hello Folks,
.
'Tis getting late, but I must say hi. So ... "HI"
.
This last weekend was an absolutely fantastic break in the routine of things. No, I didn't go sky diving, climb Mt. St. Helens or even do anything totally big and amazing. We were with my fam on Sat and Bekah's relative reunion cook out on Sun and we were totally rested.
.
Praise God for his goodness!

Things we do ...

Awaiting the reception

Saturday we went to a reception for Andrew Demeusy who got married in Colorado

Art meets mug shot

Still a bit early for the reception, we take a walk

Bro 1 walks

Bro 2 does too

Slow dramatic music plays as we .... cross the bridge

At the Demeusy reception at last

Reminiscing about the times when we were little. The Demeusy's were one of the first family's we really knew who home schooled. They were pioneers!

Pics of the honeymoon put on display

Look what I found!

Do you ever have one of those afternoon where you are completely at peace? One of those times when the family is together, and no matter what anyone does, it just feels right.

Kathy's yard is living proof that anywhere can be a haven of beauty, color and life. If Nashua can look this good, well ...

After church, I was honored to take a quick shot for the Hathaway's family picture. You might remember Mr. Hathaway from his recent political forays in Rhode Island. Who knows, we might see him again ...

An ode' to family gatherings

There stands in the vale a monument to the ingenuity of a creative young mind

Yes, God has a sense of humor in abstract art. Who would have thought, a purple mushroom?

As barbed wire cut up the open range, so the haunts of our youth are cut up piece by piece by these little plastic signs.

Farewell to an era gone by

Could have been the weather
Could of just been Steve
But blueberries there weren't many
So few I couldn't believe

I'm still enjoying following oneroofafrica.blogspot.com, the modern day tale of a family who moved to Africa to adopt a son and learn a bit about life along the way.
Hello Folks!
.
Life, as hard as it is to believe, has moved on. After the festivities, inspiration and fellowship on The Fourth, it seemed odd to step back into day to day living.
.
The challenges of business and family begin to fill my mind. Can I keep the lessons of our forefather's before my mind? Time will tell.

A Saturday to git stuff done

5 months after moving in we STILL don't have knobs on our cabinets or IKEA wardrobe. This was the day to git 'er done. After all the different weekend festivities I've been a part of over the last few months. It was really great to have a Saturday and just clean house.

Finding that dead center

Determination

"Taking a break" to sharpen the lawn mower blades

Young eyes are ever watching the movements that we make

A light touch
a smooth stroke

Blades are balanced upon the rim of the wagon

Final adjustments are made.

Somewhere in the vicinity of 4:00pm, I STILL hadn't done the shelving unit for my trailer. So, it was off to the Dread Depot to pick up supplies.

10:30 pm and I FINALLY have an organized trailer! Just wait 'till we hit the grass on monday. It won't know hit it. Yessirree Bob!

Bekah's now taking orders for cabinet knob installations. ;-)

A blessed Sunday

Our Sunday begins with a jamming session with Michael W. Smith's worship CD.

Later, Bekah and I come across an encampment of soldiers from the War of Northern Aggression.

Can you hear the haunting cries waft through the air carried aloft by the sea breeze

Unfortunately, we were a bit late. Modern vehicles invaded the historic setting and tear down begins. It could have been historic. I was so excited, "Wow" what an unexpected blog moment. But No! There was nothing we could do to stem the tide of fleeing reenactors.

Quickly, I dash around to catch a shot of one of the few remaining reenactors.

In time, even they drift away. The building alone stands monument to what was imaginably a great event.

The keeper of portals of my heart ... my beloved

"Where did this mighty stone come from?" I pondered, and then ... it hit me.

A time for reflection

Time slows
waves beat
the clouds drift
our hearts meet

A profile of entrepreneurship ... or the history of the lemonade stand.

    Young Entrepreneur

  1. Prior to the New York City stands, one of the earliest documented lemonade stands was operated by Edward Bok from 1873 to 1876. He was ten years old when he began selling ice water for a penny to passengers in horse drawn carts who stopped to allow their horses water. Other boys soon began copying Bok's idea and stealing his business, so he made lemonade and sold it for three cents a glass instead.

Wait 'till the Erwin brothers are shooting this stuff!

Hello Folks!
.
The blog returns to cover the Fourth.
.
It was a time for remembering the deeds of our fathers, considering the actions we are doing now and dreaming of a Godly vision for the future.

I must run!

SOLO DEO GLORIA

Pre fourth stuff

Yes, it's almost the fourth ... yes I'm STILL wearing long sleeves. I'm beginning to think we've been transported to Canada or something.

Visiting with the Serven Family ... I must apologize, but the only pics that came out decent, were ...

One with a camera in it and ...

Another with a camera in it. I must apologize Serven family, this in NO way reflects on the quality of your visit. On the contrare, I completely enjoyed our time.

Final 4th prep

Another visit to the midwife with my love. Can you believe how big our baby is getting!!!! How can ANYONE believe that is just a choice? Vive le LIFE!

My guys in the rain ... I think we need to buy ponchos or something.

Boston and the celebration of our nation's founding

Marching on Boston

What a gentleman!

Playing during breaks

In which, Thing One and Thing Two, discover (I know, 'tis hard to believe) ... the PAYPHONES

"Hey bro, this ain't workin fer me!"

"Bro?"

Ah ... that's better!

Remember the deeds of old

Campin' out in the parking garage (hey babe ... yeah I see you smiling)

Is that thing REALLY natural?

Art ... no! Literally!

Watching the actions of brave men.

"Interposition is the duty of lower magistrates ..."

Tuckered out?

Our ride back to the hotel being late, we entertained the locals ... and boy were there a lot of them.

Not-so-locals from Australia ask us about freedom.

More joyful participants. Why do they call this the children's parade? I think everyone else enjoys it just as much!

Posts are taken.

So many costumes ... so few pictures

Closing ceremonies

The parade moves indoors

"Make it one for Washington and all his Gallant men ..." Charlie Zahm

To inspire young men, and, well, just men, to stand strong and be leaders and defenders of the those in need, Doug attempts 150 push ups.

Doug makes 150!!!!!

OK! For me, this was probably the biggest highlight. Mr. Philips gave us the honor of participating in the closing ceremonies with a couple fiddle tunes. Yeee haw!!!!

One more dream fulfilled for my father, playing as a family ...

I was so proud of my brothers who just went up and with really minimal preparation ... did awsome! Thanks guys!

Ok! Ok! What doesn't this guy do ... well?

Some pics I stole from my families camera

Masses of humanity

My darling hiding from the sun ...

Masses of humanity grows

"Oh say can you see ..."

The fly-over flying over us as we look over to see them fly

10:30 at last ...

At last, the moment arrives. The moment we've waited so many hours for 10:30 ...  let the show begin ...

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Now THAT was worth waiting for!

Sunday morning

Next morning was the Sabbath. Ever notice that it can be so hard to get out on time when church is just around the corner? Get us in Boston, and we have time to get up, have breakfast, go for a walk in the city park, take pictures (I'll pause so that the surprise of the last point can sink in) and THEN get to church ... on time.

With our hearts warmed by the tales of liberty and courage, my brothers pause for a dramatic moment.

Completely dramatic!

A wind blows softly across the maiden's brow ...

Ack! Wait, who turned the camera on me?

Art

Hmm, he looks a little Dougmatic to me.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
Never forget those who came before us!

Drifting towards some antagonists ...

I think they know something.

Suddenly, showers of mulch is rained down upon us. I thought they looked a little to eager for us to pass.

The end of the day comes ... it's time to head home. Home to the day to day realities. Yet somehow, the big picture sticks in my mind. The future is built of many "day to days".
